Monthly pension paid for life to the surviving spouse of a person who contributed sufficiently to the Québec Pension Plan. Published maximums: $719.50 a month under 45 without dependent children, $1,129.95 under 45 with one or more dependent children, $1,134.61 under 45 when disabled, $1,173.58 between 45 and 65, and $881.48 at 65 or over when no retirement pension is received.

How to apply
File the application with Retraite Québec as soon as possible: retroactivity is capped at 11 months.
A de facto spouse must have lived with the deceased for at least 3 years, or 1 year if a child was born of the union.
The pension keeps being paid even after a later marriage or civil union.
