Monthly non-taxable payment for low-income Ontario seniors who receive Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement. For the 2026 benefit year, the maximum is $92/month if 2025 private income is nil.

Be at least 65 years old
Eligible employment status
Net family income under $54,624
How to apply
File an income tax return every year by April 30, even if you have no income to report.
Apply for Old Age Security and the Guaranteed Income Supplement through Service Canada.
If GIS is paid, the GAINS payment is determined automatically from federal and tax information.
