Employment Insurance stream for self-employed fishers. The weekly benefit is 55% of weekly insurable earnings, computed by dividing fishing earnings over the qualifying period by a divisor tied to the regional unemployment rate — from 22 below 6% unemployment down to 14 above 13.1%. In 2026 maximum insurable earnings are $68,900, giving a maximum weekly benefit of $1,325. The benefit period covers up to 26 weeks within 37 or 38. A family supplement can raise the rate to 80% of insurable earnings when net family income is $25,921 or less.
