Health and disability · ON
Ontario program for households whose prescription-drug costs are high relative to income. The annual deductible is about 4% of after-tax household net income and is paid in four quarterly instalments; once the deductible is paid, each prescription costs at most $2. You must live in Ontario, hold a valid health card, not already qualify for the Ontario Drug Benefit program, and not have insurance paying 100% of your drugs. Not to be confused with the Ontario Trillium Benefit, a separate tax credit.
Eligibility conditions
Reside in an eligible province (ON)
Not have equivalent private insurance
How to apply
Apply AS A HOUSEHOLD: spouse and dependants count in the deductible calculation.
Apply by September 30 to be reimbursed for eligible drugs from the previous program year; receipts must arrive by October 31 at the latest.
Ask for the deductible to be recalculated if household income changed by 10% or more.
