Family support · ON
Cap of $22 a day applied since 1 January 2025 to child care fees for children aged 0 to 5 in a licensed Ontario program enrolled in the Canada-wide system, bringing the provincial average to $19 a day. Fees had already been reduced by up to 25% on 1 April 2022, then by another 37% on 31 December 2022 (average of $23 a day). No application is required: the reduction is applied by the child care provider.
Eligibility conditions
Reside in an eligible province (ON)
Have one or more eligible dependent children
How to apply
Check the parent handbook to see whether the licensed provider is enrolled in the Canada-wide system: if not, fees are not reduced.
No application: the cap applies directly to the bill of a parent of a child under 6.
The reduction only applies where fees are more than $12 a day.
