Health and disability · ON
Ontario program that pays part of the cost of assistive devices — mobility aids, prostheses, hearing devices, supplies. You must live in Ontario, hold a valid Ontario health card and have a physical disability requiring the equipment for six months or longer; income is not considered. The program pays 75% of the approved price, or 75% of an approved maximum amount depending on the device; for people on Ontario Works, ODSP or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities, it may pay 100%. Devices already funded by WSIB or by Veterans Affairs are excluded.
Eligibility conditions
Reside in an eligible province (ON)
Have a recognized severe and prolonged impairment
How to apply
Get assessed by a health professional authorized by the program, who completes the application and recommends the device.
Check how the device is funded: fixed price (75% of the approved price) or maximum contribution (75% of the maximum amount).
Report eligibility for Ontario Works, ODSP or Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities: the share paid can then reach 100%.
