Housing · ON
Ontario emergency help for people behind on their electricity or natural gas bill and facing disconnection. The grant reaches $650 for electricity ($780 if the home is electrically heated) and $650 for natural gas. Eligibility depends on household size and after-tax household income: under $38,000 qualifies at any size, and the threshold rises to $71,000 for five or more people. The grant is paid directly to the utility and cannot exceed the amount owed.
Eligibility conditions
Reside in an eligible province (ON)
Net family income under $71,000
How to apply
Apply through one of the program's intake agencies: you cannot apply directly to the utility.
Be genuinely in arrears: the grant is paid only where the debt could lead to disconnection.
