Housing · NL
Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation program funding accessibility modifications to a low-to-moderate-income homeowner's dwelling. The program serves applicants with annual income of $51,500 or less ($65,000 in Labrador). Since fall 2026, funding takes the form of a forgivable loan of up to $15,000, which does not need to be repaid if the homeowner remains in the home for five years. An occupational therapist's letter is required for major work (bathroom, ramp), no longer for minor work (grab bars, handrails).
Eligibility conditions
Reside in an eligible province (NL)
Have a recognized severe and prolonged impairment
Net family income under $51,500
Eligible housing tenure (homeowner)
How to apply
For major work (bathroom, ramp), obtain an occupational therapist's letter; it is no longer required for minor work (grab bars, handrails).
Check that household annual income is $51,500 or less ($65,000 in Labrador).
Apply to the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation; remain in the home for five years so the forgivable loan does not need to be repaid.
